Art collection

Do the works of art on the walls of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants' Zurich office have something in common? They do, in fact, even if you might not see it at first glance.

The pictures have been created by various contemporary artists of different ages, ranging from 34 to 52. Interestingly, all of the artists have a more or less close relationship with modern music – apart from the American Lisa Ruyter. And the musical reference – from punk to techno and other modern musical genres – is evoked in these works.

So the selection of artists certainly wasn't random. Indeed, reflecting the international orientation of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and its people, we have gone for international artists – from Switzerland, Germany, Great Britain and the United States. The works on show here are abstract, monochrome, figurative and immediate.

Additional tension is created by the deliberate contrast between this contemporary art and the architecture and interior design of our historic premises – a grand turn-of-the-century mansion and gardens (originally designed in 1899 by Otto Froebel).
The setting was a key factor in deciding to establish the art collection at Roland Berger Zurich.

Art should be stimulating. It should spark debate and inspire. The works selected here offer plenty of food for thought. Seeking an interpretation, the observer is challenged to think.

In the highly rational and analytical world of consultancy, engaging with the intangible, with the unfamiliar, art can be a source of inspiration and excitement. Here, everyone seems to have their own interpretation, and this leads to discussion – sometimes even fierce differences of opinion. And that is just what is intended and is to be welcomed.

In today's fast-changing world, especially in an industry like consulting, we must not shy away from confronting the unfamiliar and should be open to the new; indeed, this can be the key to success.

Art can play a crucial role here. With this in mind, the works on display are intended for all our people, whoever they may be, and for our clients.
