Dr. Carsten B. Henkel

Carsten Henkel, born in 1963 in Hameln, Germany, is Co-Chairman and Senior Partner at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants Switzerland.
After finishing school in 1982, he trained as reserve officer in the German armed forces and as a bank clerk with Deutsche Bank AG. He went on to study business at the Universities of Hamburg, New York and St. Gallen. He completed his studies in 1991 with a Ph.D.
Since 1991, Dr. Henkel has worked as a management consultant for clients in Europe and beyond. From 1991 to 2006, he held various management positions at AT Kearney, The Boston Consulting Group (Practice Group Leader Industry) and Monitor Group Switzerland (Managing Partner).
From January 2007 to October 2011, Dr. Henkel was Managing Partner of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants Switzerland, helping to double the volume of business. In addition to his Swiss clients, as of November 2011 he is also in charge of American large cap private equity clients.
During his consultancy career, Dr. Henkel has worked in a wide variety of industries, with a focus on manufacturing firms, B2C companies and financial investors. He specializes in developing competitive differentiation strategies and in structuring and supporting complex change processes.
Since 2007, Dr. Henkel has given lectures on strategy and finance at the University of St. Gallen and he produces regular publications on strategic and management topics.
He is a member of the committee of the Laureus Foundation Switzerland, which organizes sports projects for disadvantaged children and teenagers.
Dr. Henkel lives with his wife and son in Küsnacht near Zurich.
